The state of Meghalaya has brought in an and passed an emergency Act that if other state personnel stay in Meghalaya for more than 24 hours, they need to have obtained prior permission for the same.
In this regard, the state government of Meghalaya has added certain new clauses in the Meghalaya Citizens Protection Act 2016 to prevent the other state people to move in and settle in Meghalaya. According to this, those who stay in Meghalaya for more than 24 hours need to obtain prior permission from the state government of Meghalaya. However, the central government employees are exempted from this rule. In this regard, the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya state government Prestone Tynsong informed that these emergency corrections revised in the Act come into effect immediately. The modified Act will be passed during the next session of the Legislative Assembly.
