The Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, functioning under CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) was set up with the main objective of creating a balanced and permanent bio-economy (of all living organisms) by undertaking research on various biological items.

The Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology is located in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. The main objective of this institute is to employ Science and Technology to detect the various bio-organisms in the Himalayan Region, improves them, and explore the possibilities of utilizing them for commercial purposes.

Qualifications required for joining the above courses

For joining Ph. D. course in Science, the candidate must have passed CSIR / UGC / RGNF / TPT / ICMR / INSPIRE / GATE/ G-B. AD. or other assistant-ship examinations including NET-JRF / SRF.

For postgraduate courses, the candidate must have completed a Degree Course in any of the Science faculties including Agricultural Science, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Fermentation Technology, Bio-Informatics, Botany, Entomology, Forestry and Environmental Science, Food Science, Food Technology, Floriculture, Microbiology, Industrial microbiology, nanotechnology, nano Bioscience, and Plant Pathology.

The candidate must have completed post-graduation in Statistics or B. E. or B. Tech. in Bio-Informatics, Computer Science, Food Technology, or Biotechnology and a pass in the National Scholarship Plan.
