Chennai to get rains for the next 2 days

The recent rains have made Chennai a little cool in the nights and many residents are happy now. The news that has come out now is Chennai city and its neighboring districts might receive heavy rains for the next 48 hours or 2 days. Till Thursday, most places in TN are likely to receive moderate rains.
There might be very heavy rains up to 20cm till Wednesday in one or two places of other districts such as Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Vellore. The important piece of information is the low-pressure area that lies over west-central and adjoining southwest of Bay of Bengal might intensify and move northwestwards towards the AP coast. There would be a dip in the rainfall on Thursday and Friday in the state of TN. This was according to Mr. Balachandran, deputy director-general of meteorology, Chennai.
He explained how the interaction between weather systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal helped in wind convergence and in moisture distribution. This influenced widespread rains. He threw light on how there might be light rains on the day of Deepavali on Sunday, 27th October.
It must be taken into account that in the past 24 hours that ended at 8:30 am on Tuesday Mahabalipuram received heavy rainfall of 9 cm. Next, Poonamallee recorded 6 cm of rainfall and other places like Nungambakkam, Cholavaram etc recorded 3cm of moderate rainfall.
It is sensational to mention here that 18 cm of rainfall was received in places like Pamban and Mandapam belonging to Ramanathapuram district. There would be rains in Chennai city and it might be heavy at times. This was as per the prediction made by the meteorological department.
Information collected is stored in as many as 7 tanks in Kancheepuram district has reached capacity and nearly 246 tanks have touched 50% of their capacity. This was as per the Water Resources Department.
From the 23rd of October, metro water would be increasing the drinking water supply from the present 525 mld to 650 mld. The point to be noted here is Chennai’s main reservoirs have been getting a steady inflow of rainwater and Krishna water from AP.
