Very heavy downpour in Chennai right up to early morning!

With the start of the northeast monsoon rainy season, there was widespread heavy throughout the state of Tamil Nadu from midnight. It rained very heavy in the Chennai Metro City till the dawn!
Meanwhile, in a press release by the Indian Weather Bureau, it is mentioned that there is a depression zone prevailing in the areas the southwest Bay of Bengal and South Tamil Nadu. So, there are prospects of heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra, and the Telangana States.
It rained heavily right from midnight in Chennai Metro City and its suburbs.
There was heavy downpour up to early morning in the urban areas of Guindy, Eekkattuthangal, T Nagar, Anna Nagar, Thiruvallikkeni, Airport, Pallavaram, Anakaputhur, Perungalathur, Chromepet, Tambaram, Vandalur, Nungambakkam, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Vadapalani, Pammal, Avadi, Ambathur, Padi, Ayanavaram, Egmore, and Mogappair and in most suburban areas as well.
With the heavy rains in Chennai Metro City, low-lying areas were flooded with rainwater making it difficult for the vehicle drivers. In this situation, Chennai District collector Seethalakshmi has announced that the schools will function as usual.
As at 5.30 AM today morning (Thursday, 17th October), 6 cm rain has been recorded at Poonamallee and 5 cm in the Chembarambakkam lake water reservoir area.
