Chennai to have humid days with sudden rains in late evenings

Now, Chennai city has been getting sudden spells of rains in the late evenings after hot and humid days. It is now revealed that this weather pattern would continue in the coming days too.
Information gathered is the rains would be intermittent and the intensity of rains would be more in the next few days. This is due to the NE monsoon that is expected to begin later this week.
For the next 24 hours, IMD has predicted a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. It is said that there would be light rains in some places in Chennai and the condition of the sky is likely to be generally cloudy.
Point to be noted is the NE monsoon is likely to start by 17th October and this was as per an official weather forecaster. It is known that the normal onset of NE monsoon would be around 20th October with a deviation of 6 days.
It has been brought out by the South Asian Climate Outlook Forum of World Meteorological Organisation that the monsoons would ease the water crisis in Chennai. From October to December, NE monsoon brings around 867.4 mm of rains (that is more than 60% of Chennai city annual rain of 1382.9 mm).
It must be noted that rainfall on Monday night and Tuesday was measured to be 1.6 mm and 7.8 mm in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam respectively. For the last few days in Chennai, humidity is increasing and it has been about 60% in midday and 90% in the morning.
The point is the direction of winds from the sea blowing from east to northeast has been causing high temperatures in the day time. The atmospheric trough or easterly wave has been responsible for sudden spells of rains.
There would be moderate rainfall off and on in the coming days along with the coastal districts of TN and Chennai. This was according to the weather blogger, Mr. Pradeep John. In his post, he has mentioned how from Thoothukudi to Chennai there would be sudden rains on and off in the day and how the rains would pick up in the night time.
