For those Chennai residents who are thinking about the rains, here comes an important piece of information.

North East or NE monsoon in TN and Chennai would begin around the 17th of October and this was according to the weather experts forecast.

Beginning from Monday night, Chennai city would receive sharp spells of rains and the reason for the rains would be due to the formation of an easterly wave or an atmospheric trough. It is said that the intensity of the rains would increase from the 16th of October.

The point to be noted is the monsoons would be normal this year and if necessary conservation steps are taken then this upcoming monsoon season between October and December would put an end to the water crisis in the Chennai city. This has been predicted by the meteorologists.

There has been a gradual withdrawal of SW monsoon over northern and central parts of India are known. It is now revealed that the conditions have become favorable for the onset of NE monsoon around 17th October. This was as per the regional weather inference of IMD. It must be taken into account that winds that play a huge role in the onset of NE monsoon have been changing rapidly making it favorable for the NE monsoon t set in.

IMD has pointed out that during the last 24 hours of time reversal of surface and low-level winds from westerly to easterly has commenced over the south-eastern parts of peninsular India. Information is easterly wind would strengthen in the next few days of time. Point is the normal onset of NE monsoon is the 20th of October with a deviation of 6 days. In the past, it was mentioned that the withdrawal of SW monsoon though delayed would be rapid and it would pave way for the onset of NE monsoon on time.

It is important to mention here that after many years northeast monsoon would start without a strong weather system (low pressure over the Bay of Bengal). The important point is easterly wave would bring the much-anticipated monsoons. This was as per the famous weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John.

Information collected is an easterly wave or an atmospheric trough is an elongated area of low air pressure from north to south but moving from east to west in the tropics. Thick clouds, as well as thunderstorms, would be left behind by this easterly wave is known.
