They belong to the genus named ‘Agaricus’. They are edible fungi and are of different shapes, colour, properties etc. We are talking here about mushrooms.

In this world, there are approximately 140,000 species of mushroom-forming fungi. Out of these just 10% are familiar to the scientists. It is important to mention that mushrooms have always been regarded as an element of flavour in various dishes.

Also known by the name toadstools, the mushroom is a fleshy spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus produced above the ground or soil. Many nutrients are present in the mushrooms and they are protein, dietary fibre, sugar, minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorus etc.  It is superb to consume mushrooms as they could provide us with many health benefits.

Intake of mushrooms would provide these health benefits.

Lowers cholesterol:

It is said that when we consume mushrooms our cholesterol levels would get controlled. It must be noted that the high lean protein content in mushrooms helps in burning the body’s cholesterol when they are digested.

Diabetes issue is avoided:

It is revealed that those who are diabetic should consume mushrooms. The natural insulin present in mushrooms plays a huge role in the breaking down of sugar or starch present in the foods. By intake of mushrooms having certain compounds, our liver plus also our pancreas and endocrine glands etc would function well. Formation of insulin is possible and diabetes is prevented.
