TANGEDCO has decided to organize ‘apprentice’ training for the engineering degree and diploma holders jointly with the Central Industrial Training Institute.

There are thousands of employees working under TANGEDCO in various departments including technology and accounts sections. TANGEDCO, jointly with the Central Industrial Training Institute located at Chennai Taramani conducts an ‘apprentice’ training course for the engineering degree and diploma holders.

Selected candidates will be given training for 1 year in the power stations, substations and electricity transmission and distribution sections. A monthly stipend will be paid during this 1-year apprenticeship.

These candidates who had undergone 1-year apprenticeship training were allowed direct participation in the interviews when recruitment for vacancies is announced.

However, a lot of maloperations were observed in this recruitment system. Further, as the appointments during the present period are made only through written examination, this ‘1-year’ apprenticeship training was not offered over the last few years.

In this scenario, TANGEDCO has decided to resume the above 1-year apprentice course jointly with the Central Industrial Training Institute for 250 engineering degree and diploma holders.

The graduate engineers selected on the basis of marks obtained in their degree will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 9000. Similarly, the diploma holders will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 8000.

TANGEDCO is all set to release the official detailed news regarding the above in a few days!
