The All India Bank Employees Association members indulged in a strong protest against the proposed merger of banks and closure of some branches.
Protesting against the proposed merger of some public sector banks, the bank employees have proposed to go on strike on 22nd October. In this situation, the bank employees throughout the country indulged in demonstrative protest against the proposed merger of some public sector banks.
In Chennai, the All India Bank Employees Association members organised a protest in front of the Chennai Parry�s corner Syndicate Bank. More than 300 employees participated.
The General Secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association C, H. Venkatachalam informed in this regard:
�Protesting against the proposed merger of some public sector banks and closure of some branches, we plan to go on strike on 22nd October on an �All India� basis. Prior to this, a protest demonstration has been carried out throughout the country. The protest was conducted in various places including Chennai. Coimbatore, and Madurai. We are planning to organise a �Dharna� (sit-in strike) on 14th October at all the State capital cities!�
