Is your internet slow now and are you facing issues in getting the information? Dont worry!!
The sensational information is the state government is having plans to lay 55000 km of optical fibre cable across the state of Tamil Nadu. By this, internet speeds of up to 1 Gpbs are possible.
Under the Bharat Net scheme, the department of Telecoms Digital Communication Commission has sanctioned an amount of Rs 1815 crores to the state of TN. The main purpose was to implement the scheme. It must be taken into account that the state has sought around Rs 2411 crores to implement Bharat Net and state government Tamil Net schemes.
Conceived by the government of India, Bharat Net schemes main objective is to provide internet connectivity to all village panchayats in India and the Tamil Net scheme aims to connect all the corporations, municipalities and town panchayats through optical fibre cable.
As per Mr. Santhosh Babu, IT secretary and managing director of TANFINET, it is clear that 55,000 kms of optical fibre cable would be laid in TN and connect 12524 village panchayats from the blocks.
He spoke about how the works would be completed in one year of time and how both the schemes provide huge potential to connect all the nodes, rural development buildings in village blocks to villages and panchayat levels and provide speeds up to 1 Gbps.
Various advantages of these schemes are faster internet connectivity, education could be transformed, e-governance and entertainment at the village level possible etc.
It must be taken into account that many government departments, hospitals, police stations plus others like individual homes, start-ups, entrepreneurs etc would also be highly benefited by the infrastructure. Important point is if other ISPs seek the services then it is possible to provide the services to them also. The network would be taken to individual houses by the Arasu Cables 26000 operators.
