People visiting the Ayanavarm bus terminus for the first time would be surprised and shocked. The reason for that is this bus terminus more cars and bikes are parked rather than the MTC buses.
Point is the entrance of the RTO or Regional Transport Office is located inside this Ayanavaram bus terminus. Many visitors park their vehicles in the bus terminus resulting in problems to the bus drivers and commuters. The Amma Unavagam present here blocks the RTOs main entrance and due to this the visitors could only use side entrance present inside the bus terminus.
The parking space of the RTO is very small and it cannot provide space for more than 20 vehicles. This has led to the staff members of RTO using the bus terminus space.
It was later mentioned by a MTC bus driver that until some vehicles got cleared the bus drivers have to wait outside the bus terminus. This leads to heavy traffic on the road. He added that if any bus driver smashes into a car or a bus then the bus driver only would be blamed despite the parking being unauthorized. He was unhappy that inspite of taking this issue to the higher authorities no response was got from them.
A regular commuter expressed his views and spoke about how at the bus terminus there was no space for the buses. He explained about how the officials spend huge money in constructing the bus stand but do not spend money in maintaining them. He shed light on how in other bus stands there were broken roofs and floors. The water logging and stinking in many bus stands create issues for the public.
The state secretary, SVS-AAP transport union, Mr. K. Anbazhagan mentioned that proper security personnel must be posted for preventing the unauthorized parking of vehicles in the bus stands.
