12 bogies derailed near Arakkonam

Tragedy hit when 12 bogies of the Muzaffarpur � Yeshwantpur Express derailed killing 1 person and injuring 33 others. The injured included 2 children and 6 women. Train no. 15228 derailed at Chitheri railway station near Arakkonam early Wednesday morning.
The derailed bogies included a pantry car, three 3-tier AC coaches and one 2-tier AC coach. The accident occurred at 5.30 am. The train had left Bihar�s Muzzafarpur on Monday and arrived at Chennai Central on Wednesday morning.
The injured were sent to Government Vellore Medical College Hospital in Adukkamparai, Arakkonam�s Government Hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai. Many trains have been cancelled due to the accident.
