Prospects of rain in most districts in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of rain in the next 2 days in a few places in most of the districts in Tamil Nadu.

The centre informed that there is a low-pressure zone developed over the Bay of Bengal near Odisha.

Due to this low-pressure format as well as the convective rain phenomenon, the Chennai Meteorological Centre informed that there are prospects of mild to medium rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu.

The centre observed that a maximum rainfall of 6 cm was recorded at Mettur in Salem District, 5 cm in Sathyamangalam in Erode District, and 4 cm in Yercaud.

Thiruvidaimarudhur in Thanjavur, Kaverippakkam in Vellore, Devala in Nilgiri Districts, Gopichettyplayam in Erode District, Valangamaan in Thiruvarur District, and Thiruthani in Thiruvallur Districtrecorded a rainfall of 3 cm each.

The Chennai Metro city will generally remain cloudy. There are prospects of medium rain in a few places in the city during the evening session.

As high speeds are blowing in the Southwest Arabian Sea at speeds from 45 kmph to 55 kmph, the fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea for fishing in the next 4 days.

Further, as a low-pressure format persists over the Southeast and central Bay of Bengal, the fishermen have been cautioned not to venture fishing for the next 3 days.
