The southwest monsoon is showing signs of slowing down in the western parts of India. It is now said that for atleast 2 days the city of Chennai is likely to get moderate late evening showers.

This was according to the regional meteorological centre’s 48 hour forecast. He added that it is not a break monsoon season and the weak westerlies would play a huge role in bringing late night rains in the city of Chennai. The average rainfall that is normally expected in the month of August is 5.9 mm. Point is in this August 2019 Chennai city has recorded 14.3 mm rainfall that is excess of 142%.
