Sea protest at Kudankalam

Villagers from around the Kudankalam Nuclear Plant have taken to the seas on Wednesday to protest against its commission. The protest comes in the wake of allegations of smoke and loud noises emanating from the plant that apparently affects old people and pregnant women.
The authorities at the nuclear power plant say that the noise is because of testing the steam valves and is completely harmless.
Speaking to the press, People�s Movement Against Nuclear Energy member S.P. Udaykumar said, �We are attempting to lay siege to the township as we are very concerned about the noise, smoke and odour from the plant.� Around 3000 people have been estimated to protest.
