From this weekend, supply of Jolarpet water to Chennai would be doubled

The news that has come out now is from this weekend the supply of water from Jolarpet to the Chennai city would be doubled. Information collected is on the special water train 550 mld of water would be brought from Jolarpet to Chennai.
From Saturday onwards, second set of rakes would be available and this has been confirmed by the officials belonging to the metro water department. It must be noted that presently 50 wagons having 2.75 mld water are making single trip every day. The special water train starts from Jolarpet at 7pm in the night and reaches Villivakkam in Chennai at midnight. In the operation of water special, there is no issue at present. Information collected is once the second rake is available train would make 2 trips per day that is in the morning and in the evening time. It is now said that the railway authorities would take decision regarding the operational procedure and timings of the water train.
It must not be forgotten that metro water department had asked for 4 rakes to bring 11 million litres of water every day. For transporting water from Jolarpet to Chennai, railways got a rake that was used for transporting edible oil, cleaned it in short time and gave it to the metro water department for transporting the water. According to an official it is clear that second set of rakes is being cleaned and getting readied. Three rakes are expected from the railways now. Point is only when 3 rakes are available adequate amount of water could be transported.
It has been mentioned that once when the second set of rakes arrive in Jolarpet water could be transported twice per day. It is revealed that one major issue is switching of overhead traction at Villivakkam in Chennai without which water cannot be decanted from the wagons into metro water pipelines.
An officer mentioned about that both filling and decanting takes 8 hours of time and travelling time is another issue. It was brought out by another officer that second set of rakes has been readied in the same place Kota similar to the first set.
