Central government visits Chennai Mylapore Lord Kapaleeswarar temple

A survey was conducted on districts which have very low groundwater level throughout the country. Through this, 255 districts were identified.
The central government has created a new project called ‘Jalsakthi Abhiyan’ in order that the available water is protected, water saving and the collection initiated and steps for better water management are undertaken in the above districts.
Officials of the cadre of joint secretaries or assistant secretaries would be the monitoring official for this project with each district divided into 4 sections and 1 official will monitor for these 4sections.
The 1st Phase of this project commenced on 1st July. The 1st Phase activities will be in progress till 15th September.
In this scenario, the Director of the National Water Resources Council, Rajiv Singh Kaul, who has been appointed as the monitoring official for the 4 sections in Chennai District including Mylapore, Thiruvallikkeni, Guindy, Saidapet, and Chintadripet, visited the Chennai Mylapore Lord Kapaleeswara temple pond yesterday (Thursday, 11th July) for inspection.
During the inspection session, the Mylapore temple Joint Commissioner Kaveri explained the arrangements and the various activities undertaken to collect the rainwater from the 4 temple corridor streets to the temple pond, rainwater saving arrangements, and the deepening of the pond to increase the capacity,etc., along with the map of the pond.
