45km flyover to come up on OMR

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa announced a Rs. 5 crore flyover project to tackle traffic on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road) on Monday. Making the announcement in the Assembly, she said,Roadways are an important factor in the society’s economic development. The construction of quality roads shows the overall growth of the State. My government has kept road development as a priority.
‘Projects to tackle traffic congestion, reduce traveling time and vehicle operating costs, construction of new bridges and widening of roads have already been launched. Our next project will be to construct a flyover that will help control traffic in the busy Old Mahabalipuram Road. The flyover will cover 45 kms in two phases and will cost Rs. 5 crores. Phase I from Taramani to Siruseri and Phase II from Siruseri to Mahabalipuram.’
