Vasan announces CSR from port profits

Union Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan announced that 3.5% of the profits generated by ports will now be used for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiaves.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, Mr. Vasan said, In this current fiscal year, Ennore Port Limited, Chennai Port Trust and V O Chidambaranar Port Trust have spent around Rs 2.72 crore, Rs 75 lakh and Rs 3 crore respectively for their CSR activities. Around 42 port extension projects worth Rs 14, 750 crore are in the pipeline, and contracts worth Rs 6,800 crore were awarded for 32 such projects this year on public-private partnership basis.
