Corporation to do up Marina Beach promenade

The Chennai Corporation has announced a sum of Rs. 23 lakhs to spruce up the face of the promenade at Marina Beach. The money will be used to restore the artificial cascade of water and the fountain next to the Triumph of Labour Statue.
It will also be used to restore the Marina swimming pool and the public toilets that line the beach. The pool, fountain, cascade and the toilets are an eyesore at the moment.
A Corporation official said, ‘We are going to replace fibre doors in toilets with steel doors. Some people regularly damage such facilities.’
