To catch the traffic violators in Chennai, 500 more cops to be present on the roads

The Chennai police would soon be showing who the boss is to those who violate the traffic rules. This would be done by placing 500 more police personnel on the roads in the city of Chennai.
It must be taken into account that the centre would be recommending changes to the Motor vehicle Act by increasing the penalty for the drunken driving t Rs 10,000 plus making the punishments harsher for those violating the traffic rules. As per the sources it is clear that the police personnel in khaki uniform would be placed at strategic locations and these policemen would monitor the Chennai city for 24 hours of time to catch those who violate the traffic rules.
Information is some senior police officers have given instructions to their subordinates to identify young personnel from the armed reserve wing who are willing to join the traffic enforcement wing. This would be just the beginning of the recruitment. Wearing helmets while driving 2-wheelers is compulsory and it is now said that first on the Chennai city police list for an elaborate crackdown are the helmetless riders. Fatalities from the road accidents could be brought down by this check.
The shocking piece of news is in Chennai in 2018 as many as 792 two-wheeler riders died in the road accidents. It was later revealed by the police data that 769 out of total of 792 did not wear helmets.
The traffic wing of Chennai police had also collected data and as per the data it is clear that more than 61 percent of road accident victims were 2-wheeler riders. Locating strategic vehicle check points is now given importance and 2 senior police officers have been assigned to locate these check points. Information gathered is the road users would be caught at any one of the check points even if they try to evade checks on the arterial roads.
In the Chennai city, there are as many as 100 static vehicle check points and 75 movable vehicle check points. This was as per a senior police officer.
