As per the Public Works Department or PWD officials it is now revealed that the supply of Krishna water would continue for another 2 weeks of time. It is known that Andhra Pradesh government has been reducing the flow of water to Tamil Nadu from Krishna River.

The officials pointed out that initially Andhra Pradesh government agreed to release 800 cusecs water as a part of Telugu Ganga project but the water released was down to just 400 cusecs and this happened in the last few days. The important information collected is team of officials belonging to PWD led by Mr. S.K. Prabhakar visited their counterparts in AP and water from Krishna River was released by the government of Andhra Pradesh. About 2000 million cuft of water was agreed to be released by the AP government. The point to be noted is failure of monsoons in AP had forced the officials to release less amount of water to TN.

In Poondi reservoir, in the first few days about 60 cusecs of water was received and this was confirmed by the officials Later the flow raised slowly and touched 190 cusecs in the next 5 days of time is known. The information is in the last 4 days the water flow ranged between 370 cusecs and 420 cusecs. It was brought out that AP would release Krishna water for a fortnight and beyond that it would be bonus for TN. Illegal tapping of water has been carried out along the canal and this was as per an official. To tap water for irrigation purposes, people have sunk motors in the canal.

The important information is this illegal tapping was noticed by the officials of PWD in many places along the canal but no actions were taken. An officer pointed out that when the Krishna water pact was signed then the government of TN should have laid pipes to bring the water from AP. He added that it would be difficult now as it would create issues in the relationships between TN and AP. The officer finally hinted that acquiring land for laying pipes is a tough task in the present scenario.
