Big bus-terminal in Vandalur soon

Another big bus-terminal, like the one which has been functioning from Koyambedu, will soon be constructed in Vandalur in 65-acres of land specifically allotted for the purpose, according to CMDA officials.

The Koyambedu bus-terminal which has a traffic of not less than 2000 buses from within and outside the State have been creating a heavy traffic jam either to catch buses from the bus terminal or to reach the bus-terminal. For most of the passengers, reaching the Koyambedu bus terminal has become a difficult task, as they have to take another long-route buses from their residential area to reach the bus-terminal.
A 24-hour traffic jam was felt by the residents living nearby, including the residents of Vadapalani, Virugambakkam and Anna Nagar area. During peak hours the residents and their children could not reach their destinations due to congestion of traffic.

Chennai Metro Development Authority, after thoroughly analyzing the traffic jam and several difficulties faced by many have decided to construct a new terminal in Vandalur. According to the CMDA, the Vandalur area is situated on the central point of the Chennai city and its suburban area, and constructing a bus-terminal would be helpful to the residents of the city and its suburbs.
