Supply of Nemmeli Desalination Plant water from March 11

The Nemmeli Desalination Plant is a reverse osmosis, water desalination plant at Nemmeli will start supplying drinking water to the people of South Chennai from Monday, March 11.
The laying of water pipeline at a distance of 65 kms from the plant have been completed and several workers are engaged to remove the sands from the pipeline.
According to sources, the work will be completed in a day or two so that the residents of the SouthChennai can draw their drinking water from the taps of their houses. Separate water tanks on different locations were also constructed for the storage of water from the plant to draw water from pipes round the clock, the sources said. Initially the supply of the desaliation water will be made to the residents of Velachery, Chozhinganallur, Thiruvanmiyur, Pallipattu.
It is to be remembered the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa inaugurated the plant on February 22.
