A press release from the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre has said that Chennaiites may get a chance to see the Pan-Starrs, a comet from the Oort Cloud. It will pass the moon on 12th and 13th of this month.

‘Its (the comet’s) passage close to the orbit of the planet Mercury might make it brighter (and so more visible).  The comet is to pass about 16 crore km from the earth on March 12 and 13, very much inside the orbit of Mercury. Scientists hope the solar heating it receives inside the orbit will make it visible to the naked eye. It has the ability to shine brighter than the North Star Polaris’, the release said.
