A sudden fire, that broke out on Sunday, on the third-floor of the ten-storey building at the Central Railway station�s Moore Market Complex, affected the activities of the Railways including reservation of tickets and issuing of tickets to the suburban trains.
According to sources,a short-circuit was the reason for the fire.
Fire brigades were called to extinguish the fire, but before the fire-engine could reach the spot, most of the area was consumed in flames.
The van of Veperi Fire Service Station, headed by fire-brigade Vadivel reached the 10-storey building and battled for more than an hour to extinguish fire.
