Northeast Monsoon 2018 to end on deficient note for Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu is one of the best performing state after Kerala during the Northeast Monsoon. At present, Tamil Nadu is rain deficient by 9 percent, in spite of two back to back weather systems approached the state of Tamil Nadu recently- one was cyclone ‘Gaja’ and another was a Well-Marked Low. Both have given heavy rains at many places over Tamil Nadu during the second and third week of November.
In fact, rains during the month of October were comparatively very less in the state on account of delayed onset of Northeast Monsoon. Although, the recent rains during the month of November have made up to the rain deficiency for some extent.
Now, the Northeast Monsoon has finally subdued. In the absence of any weather system, we do not expect rains to increase anytime soon over Tamil Nadu. Weather is expected to remain almost dry up to November 28 or 29. Thereafter rains may increase marginally over the state from November 30 to December 2. But this time also, the intensity of rain will not be heavy.
For 2018, weathermen at Skymet Weather are predicting that the performance of Northeast Monsoon over Tamil Nadu will not be very encouraging. So, we can say that, Northeast Monsoon will end on deficient note for the state.
