The Chennai Meteorological Centre has warned that there are symptoms noted for a cyclonic format to be developed over the Arabian Sea. There are prospects of heavy rain in most areas in Tamil Nadu until 8th October.
The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Balachandran, explained in this regard:
As a cyclone format has developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere, there are prospects of heavy rains in several areas until 8th October.
There are symptoms that a low-pressure zone is about to be formed in the next 2 days over the southeast Arabian Sea. This is likely to intensify and transform into a heavy depression zone and into a cyclonic format later. There are possibilities that this cyclonic format may drift towards the northwestern direction. Due to this cyclonic format, the sea will be turbulent.
Because of the cyclonic format, the fishermen of the areas of South Kerala, Kanyakumari and its neighbourhood, Lakhdivs, and southeast and the central Arabian Sea are warned not to venture into the sea.
Chennai Metro will remain cloudy. There are prospects of medium rains sometimes.
