Corporation tiffin centres to be named as "Amma Tiffin Centres"

The Chennai Corporation Council, in its monthly meeting on Friday, made every attempt to mark the upcoming birthday of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Councillors voted to approve of a proposal to rename the recently-inaugurated subsidised tiffin centres after Jayalalithaa as ‘Amma Tiffin Centres’ and also approved a scheme to distribute free mosquito nets to slum dwellers living along the city’s waterways and canals.
The Council also adopted three resolutions in which it greeted Jayalalithaa for her birthday, praised her for ensuring the gazette notification of the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, announcing aid for drought-hit areas and other measures.
Jayalalithaa had inaugurated 15 subsidised tiffin centres on Tuesday, and now the Corporation has said it is aiming to open 24 more of these centres on February 24, to mark the Chief Minister’s birthday.
