High Court orders min 80% in +2 for foreign medical courses

Posted on: 29/Sep/2018 11:18:13 AM
The Chennai High Court has ordered the central government and the Medical Council of India (MCI) that the applicants who have scored less than 80% marks in the +2 Public Examinations must not be issued an eligibility certificate to join medical courses in foreign medical colleges.

In an enquiry related to the above issue/petition, the MCI had responded that the applicants must have passed NEET, and must have scored above 50% in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Citing the prevailing conditions in India itself that there are applicants who have scored above 90% and still not able to join medical courses within the country, the justice ordered the minimum marks for joining medical courses abroad must be fixed at 80%.
