Posted on: 20/Feb/2013 3:15:47 PM
Madras University will initiate criminal action against 30 of its employees after a Committee instituted by it reported that they were involved in malpractices.

The Employees were booked under Rule 17(b) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rule. They were allegedly involved in tampering with mark sheets of B.Tech and B.E. students in 2011.

According to Prof. R. Thandavan, Vice-Chancellor of the University, ‘The Syndicate accepted the committee recommendations and has asked us to send show cause notice to all 30 employees asking them why we should not initiate criminal action against them. The charges for every employee went up to 25 pages; such is the grave nature of their offence. The previous Prof S. Karunanidhi report too had indicted the same 30 employees.’
