Gandhian fasting in jail

Gandhian Sasiperumal has been on hunger strike for the past 21 days in Puzhal Jail. The 57 year old Siddha Doctor has also taken a vow of silence.
Mr. Sasiperumal was arrested under Sec. 75 (causing nuisance to the public) when he protested in Marina Beach. His demand is complete Prohibition (of alcohol) in the state.
‘He is not doing it for publicity. He fainted twice and is in the prison hospital. He was forcefully given IV drops once. He wants to bring total prohibition in the State. If he’s not serious about it, he would not have continued for so many days’, says his lawyer Mr.K. Thangavelu.
