CMDA and DTCP plot regularization scheme

Posted on: 04/Aug/2018 11:06:26 AM
Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) extended the plot regularization scheme by six months after the month of May, 2018 for receiving applications from the plot owners. But the scheme received poor response from the builders and owners marking the huge graph of 17 lakh plots across the state unapproved by both CMDA and Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP).

CMDA received only 3.5 lakh applications out of 17.5 lakh unapproved plots waiting for the proper registration. Builders and promoters blame the authorities of CMDA and DTCP for not properly promoting or creating awareness about the plot regularization scheme. The process of applying online for the layouts after October 20, 2016 was widespread by the CMDA authorities. But the plot owners submit their official applications only at the last month of the extended period for plot registration.

Many of the building owners and associations points out the governmental body to raise more awareness about the plot regularization scheme to receive more applications. Keeping all this into account CMDA extended the time limit for the application three times in arrow after the official announcement of the new scheme. The popularization of the scheme was minimal and not well received by the builders and plot owners. Initially CMDA received 27,000 online applications and then by the extended time period another 8000 application were obtained for the approval.

One of the officials from the department of housing and urban development informed that the remaining three months from the extended period can bring some changes in the overall scheme aiming for more applications. The official also mentioned about the awareness measures taken for the widespread knowledge of plot regularization scheme through online application.
