The counseling sessions for the admission to the engineering courses for the category of candidates with the speciality of Industrial Technology has been completed. However, 4937 seats (in the allotted quota for this category), constituting around 80% remain unfilled.

The single-window counselling sessions for the engineering courses, organized by Anna University, has been completed for the categories of sports specialists and heirs of ex-military personnel in 3 phases got completed yesterday (Sunday, 22nd July). The counselling for the category of the differently-abled candidates has already been completed and the seats were allotted.

Meanwhile,   the counselling for the category of the +2 candidate who had completed the Industrial Technology as an elective was conducted for 3 days from 18th July. 1678 candidates were called for counselling for the available 6232 seats. 349 candidates failed to participate. Out of the candidates who participated, 34 candidates who could not get their choice of preferred course/college rejected the allotted seat.

In the category of the industrial technology, 1296 candidates were allotted seats. 4937 seats remained unfilled. Thus, the 80& seats unfilled in the category of industrial technology has now been added to the counselling sessions for the general category. Further, there is an opinion that the candidates with industrial technology are generally poor in academic skills. Because of this, the candidates of this category were not allotted any seats in the colleges within the Anna University complex – Guindy Engineering College, Alagappa Chettiar College of Technology, and the Chromepet MIT (Madras Institute of Technology).
