People from North East are easy prey for fraudsters

Students or employees from the North East, especially Mizoram and Nagaland, who are in Tamil Nadu, have fallen prey to people committing fraud with their bank accounts.
These accounts, which are opened in these remote areas, are used as a base for depositing and withdrawing through illegal transactions. ‘Although the account holders of such transactions become party to criminal activity, in most cases, the young people whose account numbers were being used by the fraudsters failed to foresee the legal consequences mainly due to lack of awareness’, says a police official.
