Counselling for engineering to be conducted in July

The state government minister for higher education, K. P. Anbazhagan, informed that the counselling for joining engineering courses to be conducted by Anna University will commence during the 1st week of July.
Online counselling is to be conducted for admission in the engineering colleges functioning under Anna University. 159631 candidates have applied.
The random number, based on which the rank/merit list is to be prepared, was released yesterday (Tuesday, 6th June) for 59416 candidates. The State Minister for higher education K. P. Anbazhagan and the Chief Secretary Sunil Paliwal released the random numbers.
Subsequently, the minister had an interview session. While deciding the merit list, the system of random numbers is used to decide the ranking when more than 1 student has the same marks. This year, the students will be allotted their preferred subject during the online counselling process. It has been planned to commence the online counselling on 6th July.
The dates of counselling for engineering courses will vary depending on the counselling dates for medical courses. As compared to the last year, 18500 additional candidates have applied. A total of 159631 candidates have applied. The certificate/document verification will be done from 8th June to 14th June.
