Alagappa University among the list of top quality higher academic institutions

The central government allows a grant of Rs, 1000 Crores over a period of 5 years for the top 10 high-quality universities listed in the top 100 universities prepared by the Department of Human Welfare Department of the central government.

In the selection of the top quality universities, Alagappa is one among the leading institutions. A high-level team from Alagappa University, headed by the Vice-Chancellor Subbaiah, made a presentation regarding the guidelines to make a high-quality academic institution to the UGC (University Grants Commission) selection committee on the face-to-face discussion and consultancy held on 24th April in Delhi.

The Vice-Chancellor of Alagappa University explained that the university has already completed and functioning with most of the 10 requisite special facilities/infrastructure as listed by the UGC such as Laboratory facility, World-class library, NAG quality assessment, high-quality Research Centres.

The total strength of the students at present is 5780. This has to be increased to 10000. It has been planned to meet 7 important conditions required including research regarding the social care, etc., before 2023.

Also, other conditions such as increasing the number of foreign students, finding a place in the top 100 universities in the international list, etc., are planned to be completed before 2033.

The Vice-Chancellor observed that there are excellent prospects of Alagappa University being selected as a high-quality institution and getting the UGC grant of Rs. 1000 Crores.
