The results 160 engineering colleges withheld by Anna University now

Due to non-cooperation for evaluation of the answer scripts plus due to pending examination fees, Anna University, Chennai has now withheld the 8th semester results of as many as 160 engineering colleges.
On 25th of May 2018, Anna University released the 8th semester results of many B.E, B. Tech and B. Arch courses are known. For non-cooperation for evaluation, students belonging to many top engineering colleges like SSN College of Engineering etc could not see their results.
It must be noted that the after revamping the evaluation of the answer scripts, the Anna University debarred over 1100 faculty members from valuation. This was after the marks variation found in 50,000 answer scripts of the students who took April/May 2017 examinations.
The quality of evaluation got improved but many faculty members of private engineering colleges stayed away from evaluation. Later a circular was sent by the university to all the affiliated engineering colleges asking the colleges to send atleast 70 % of staff members for evaluation of the answer scripts. In the circular it was also mentioned that the results would be withheld if the engineering colleges did not comply with the order. According to some professors, the evaluation process would take longer time if enough teachers do not come for evaluation. This could also result in the delay in the announcement of the results. Faculty members with 3 to 5 years experience in college and professors who have handled the particular subjects alone are eligible for evaluation. This is as per the existing rule. Due to the disciplinary action initiated by the university the faculty members of affiliated engineering colleges are afraid to go for the evaluation. This was confirmed by the principals of the affiliated engineering colleges.
According to a principal of a private engineering college, for the failure of the engineering colleges Anna University should not withhold the results of the students. The students are affected by this and not the colleges. As per the university officials it is now clear that the results of over 160 engineering colleges have been withheld. Apology letters have been received and the results of some colleges are released now and this has been confirmed by the officials.
