Hunger Strike by Farmers

The All Farmers� Union started a hunger strike. Their request � nationalized banks are to waive all loans taken by farmers in view of drought this year. BJP functionary Mr. Thol. Radhakrishnan was part of the meeting. He said that farmers were committing suicide due to the drought which was increased due to no change in the neighbouring States with regard to Cauvery, Palar and Mullaiperiyar. He accused the Central Government of not caring about the farmers. He extended support to all activity that would improve this situation and demanded Rs. 10,000 for each farmer who has been affected.
