Pamban Railway Bridge to be tested

Following the damage of the railway bridge over the river Pamban in Rameswaram, train services on the bridge will resume after a trial run was conducted earlier today. An engine with two bogies will run on the bridge to test its strength once more, according to Railway officials.
The bridge was damaged when a barge that was towing a ship, that run aground, crashed into it. According to Mr. Shylendra Babu, Additional Director General of Police, the ship had violated norms by not anchoring three nautical miles from the bridge.
