This famous college in Chennai celebrated its 53rd college day recently

The city of Chennai is famous for the standard of education is well known. There are many educational institutions present in Chennai.

D.G. Vaishnav College in Chennai is one such educational institute that has been producing many students for decades. Many students from this superb college have gone on to become highly successful in their professions is known.

On the occasion of Sri Vallabh Jayanthi at the college premises, D.G Vaishnav College celebrated its 53rd college day on 12th April 2018 and it attracted the attention of many.

Traditional lighting of the lamp started the memorable evening and was soon followed by cultural events by the college dance team and a classical band. It is superb to mention that the theme was based on Lord Krishna and Vallabhacharya.

Vice chairman of Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha, Mr. Gopal Agarwal welcomed those who were present on the occasion and he spoke about how it was a blessing to celebrate college day on the same day as that of Vallabh Jayanthi.

Mr. Gopal Agarwal later threw light on the life of Vallabhacharya and said Vallabacharya’s parents belonged to Andhra Pradesh but shifted to Chhattisgarh when he was a premature baby.

The vice chairman then surprised many when he said at the age of just 12 Vallabhacharya mastered everything in education.

Others who made their presence felt on this special occasion were chief guest His Holiness Vagdhishraiji Mahoday, Sri Vithalnathjee Mandir plus principal of the college Mr. R. Thanigaivel, Treasurer Mr. Ashok Kedia. The chief guest was welcomed with a shawl and a memento.

The chief guest Vagdhishraji Mahoday surprised many when he said he studied in this D.G. Vaishnav College and is visiting the college again after 7 or 8 years. He spoke about how the moment was emotional plus nostalgic. The chief guest later thanked the committee members of the college for their warm welcome.

One important piece of information is this Vagdhishraji Mahoday is the 17th descendent of Sri Vallabhacharya. This occasion also marked the 540th birth anniversary of Sri Vallabhacharya who was a Vaishnavite philosopher.

The chief guest later gave his speech and explained about the life of Sri Vallabhacharya and said he belonged to 15th century and was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. He also spoke about how Sri Vallabhacharya travelled throughout India and preached his values to others. He also spoke about how Pushtimarg was founded by Sri Vallabhacharya.

The occasion also saw the retiring staffs being felicitated and prizes were given to those students who have done superbly in various fields.
