Govt. announces soft skills centres in colleges

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Selvi J. Jayalalitha, today announced soft skills courses in 30 colleges across the State. These colleges fall under 5 universities, the total cost being Rs. 1.35 crore.

Ms. Jayalalitha has also announced that the government will set up Incubation and Technology Transfer Centres in nine Universities  - Alagappa University, Periyar University, Annai Teresa Women`s University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Bharathiyar University, Bharatidasan University, Tiruvalluvar University, Madurai Kamaraj University and Madras University. These centres will help link people and companies to the Universities.

This first phase of the project will enable students in these colleges to work on their soft skills which, in return, will help in building careers in various fields. There is currently a huge need for people with soft skills in industries such as IT and Human Resources. This could also work well in building careers in teaching soft skills themselves while making entrepreneurs of the students.

The official press release said, �Each incubation and technology transfer centre will be set up at a cost of Rs 29.88 lakhs. These measures taken by the government will help in identifying the creative skills of the students and encourage them in inculcating the spirit of social commitment among them.�
