Direct appointment of 320 Civil Judges through TNPSC examinations

320 Civil judges are to be recruited directly through TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission), The announcement regarding this is to be released shortly.

The civil judges to work in the Department of Justice of the state government are appointed directly through TNPSC. A written test and then interview are conducted for this.

Graduates of Law, candidates who work as lawyers in the courts, and government assistant advocates can all apply for the posts of the Civil Judge.

The advocates who apply must be in the age group 25-35 and for the candidates who are under the reservation quota (SC/ST/BC/MBC) cadre, the age limit is 40.

If the candidates are graduates in law, they must be above 22 years of age.

The minimum age for all cadres is fixed at 27 years of age. The candidates must have completed 3 years after their graduation. Regarding the written examination conducted by TNPSC, there are 4 examinations – 3 papers on the subject of Law and 1 paper on translation. All the questions must be answered in detail. Each question paper carries 100 marks. So, there is a total of 400 marks.

The candidates who pass in the above written examination will be called for interview. The interview carries 60 marks. Finally, the appointment orders will be issued based on the performance in the written test, interview, and the reservation quota.

During the year 2014, 162 civil judges were recruited through TNPSC procedure as above. In the present situation, 320 civil judges are to be given direct appointment this year through the TNPSC schedule.

A TNPSC official informed that the announcement regarding this will be released soon.

It is worth noting here that this is the 1st time ever that such a large number of vacancies for the civil judges are being filled up.
