252 MTC Special Buses for Kaanum Pongal

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation organised 252 special buses to various destinations including Anna Square, Besant Nagar, Guindy National Park in the city and Mamallapuram, Vandalur Zoo and some theme parks on the outskirts, where the crowd will be heavy in Kaanum Pongal.
We expect at least one lakh people to visit the Vandalur zoo. Already, 150 buses go to the zoo and another 150 will be required to clear the crowd between 3pm and 7pm," said by MTC official.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of the huge rush of people and have banned swimming in sea.
Barricades have also been put up to prevent people from entering the sea for bathing.
More than 5,000 police personnel, including police mounted on horse-back and patrol teams were deployed on security duty in all tourist spots and important business centres across the city.
