Medical students belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu would be in dilemma now

The latest news is medical students belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu would be left in quandary or dilemma. It is now said that these students would not be able to decide whether they could take their seat as these students don’t know their state ranks till now. It is known that the Directorate of General Health services or DGHS would be allotting post graduate medical seats all over India.

It must be noted that the last date for submitting the applications for the state quota of the post graduate degree and diploma in the medical courses ended on Monday 26th of March 2018.

As many as 9848 applications were received by the selection committee. In this year as many as 157 additional seats were added and the total number of seats present now is 1641. This includes 1250 degree plus 396 diploma seats in those medical colleges run by the state.

It is revealed that after surrendering 50 per cent of the seats to DGHS for admission through all India quota system, the single window admission process for the medical colleges in the state of TN plus those in many self financing colleges and Raja Muthiah Medical College would be carried out.

Dr. G. Selvarajan, the state selection committee secretary, spoke about how in the next two days applicants would be categorised as per the eligibility of the incentive amount.  He further explained that the merit list could not be released as state rank list was not received from the NBE or national board of examinations. It is well known that this NBE is responsible for conducting the tests.

The NEET-PG 2018 was conducted last year and in the month of January 2018 the results were announced. Till now the rank list was not received by the state. This was also confirmed by the state selection committee secretary. It is worthy to mention that on Monday 26th March 2018 the directorate closed options for registrations at 5pm exercising of choices plus locking of choices of All India quota.

Dr. Ravindranath, the general secretary for Doctor’s Association of Social Equality, spoke about how on Tuesday 27th March allotment of first round would take place and how many medicos have locked their choices. He also spoke about how by 3rd of April the students must join their allotted medical colleges. He further threw light on the fact that most medicos do not know about their status in the state of Tamil Nadu.
