Several complaints have been received that many private schools operating under the CBSE syllabus demand excessive fees from the students/parents.

Consequently, CBSE has insisted that all private schools must immediately furnish the complete details of the fees charged by them.

The Central Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar, had a session with the press reporters in this regard. He observed that the private schools working under CBSE syllabus must not charge excessively high fees or any indirect fees, They must furnish the complete details of fees charged by them. It has been decided to impose penalties on the schools which fail to furnish these details.

Investment by the private sector in the field of education will certainly help the countrys economic growth. However, it is not acceptable for them to charge an excessive fee.

CBSE has strictly warned that excessive fees and indirect fees must not be charged by the private schools. Further, the schools should not compel that the textbook/notebooks and uniforms must be bought through the schools only.
