As there has been uptick in total applications received under Right to Education act, the last date for applying is extended to 26th of May.
May 18 was initially the last date. In the past 3 days, there have been double the numbers of applications usually received.
As of Wednesday (yesterday), there have been 40,000 applications. We have observed a massive increase in response and as a result, we have extended the deadline for application, said School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan.
The entire process is made online so that there is better transparency in the admission process under RTE. Information about total number of vacant seats in each and every school under RTE quota are also published online.
The RTE Act
25 percent of the total seats available at entry level classes like LKG and class-1 in all private schools should be allotted for students applying under RTE act. Students from poor background of economically backward and socially disadvantaged classes are eligible to apply through RTE act.
