MTC bus kills one, injures four

An MTC bus carrying over 30 passengers ran amok on Santhome High Road, killing an oncoming motorist and injuring five others on Thursday morning.
Around 11.30am, police said, the bus on route 6A (Besant Nagar to Tollgate) had crossed the Santhome church when driver Sundarapandian lost control, possibly while trying to overtake a car, and the vehicle went on to hit three bikes.
The 46-year-old Tulasi realtor from Vadapalani and his daughter Priya, 23, were going on a two-wheeler when the bus hit the vehicle. Thulasi came under its wheels and was crushed to death right in front of his daughter who sustained injuries to the head.
3 others - Varadharajan, 25, from Pulianthope working in an office of a mobile phone service provider on one bike, Amresh and his son Sathesh from RA Puram on another two-wheeler – were also hit by the bus and suffered serious injuries. They were shifted to the government general hospital.
