A new scheme spark started in corporation schools to enable students to score higher marks

The Chennai corporation administration has commenced a scheme known as spark for the students of 10th and 12th Standards in all Corporation Schools in order to score 100 percent pass.
There are 281 corporation schools functioning under the Chennai corporation. This includes 32 higher secondary schools, 38 high schools, 88000 boys and girl students are studying in these schools. The success rate for the higher secondary schools was 86.21 percent last year.
The year-before-last, it was 85.53 percent. In high schools, the success rate for the last year was 95 percent. The year-before-last, it was 92.15 percent. Out of the total schools functioning, only 3 or fewer schools have been recording 100 percent success.
In this scenario, the corporation administration has now introduced on a trial basis, a new scheme spark (fire spark) in order for all the corporation schools students to score higher marks and also to bring out the latent talents of the students.
In this regard, a Chennai Corporation Education Department Official explained that around 12000 students are set to write the public examinations this year in 10th and 12th Standards. The corporation schools in the Chennai Metro city are the most prominent ones and to improve the performance, the scheme spark is being introduced.
Spark is being introduced entirely on a trial basis.As per this scheme, the performance of the students of 10th and 12th Standards in the quarterly and half-yearly examinations are analysed and the students are divided into groups based on the marks scored. The extra coaching will be given to enable them improve their performance. There will be 1 teacher for every 5 students.
These teachers will be conducted special classes both in the mornings and evenings for the student groups. Further, we have utilised the services of expert and experienced teachers to offer special coaching. The result of this effort will be known when the results are released. Based on the outcome, we will take the necessary steps to improve this scheme even better.
