Googles new algorithm to rank mobile sites high

Posted on: 07/Nov/2016 4:04:48 PM
Prioritizing mobile sites over the desktop ones, the search engine giant, Google is all set to make revisions in its indexing and ranking algorithm.

According to what the company has to say, most users are mobile Google searches and in fact, most users prefer sites that are mobile friendly. The algorithm presently in use by Google indexes the desktop version and the ranking is given for the content found in desktop mode.

In the present day scenario, such an approach where desktop surfing is prioritized is wrong. There are mobile sites that given lesser information as compared to desktop counterparts which is wrong. This is a mobile-first world and hence, Google is performing multiple tests and experiments with its search algorithm so that it ends up with the ideal way of ranking websites in future.

Though the search index we use will comprise only of a single index of websites and apps, eventually, the pages will be ranked based on the site content in its mobile version. This will aid in understanding the structured data.

Those who have not yet got a mobile site, it is high time now. You still have time to make a transition of your site to mobile as Google is still having its desktop page first in its live indexing algorithm.
